Your first search: the result bar
Chapter 2 of 11Every Google result gets a bar of SEO numbers. Here is what each number means and what good or bad looks like.
Where the bar appears
Search on Google as you normally do. Under the title of every normal (organic) result, the extension adds a bar that starts with the SBMM label.
Ads, maps and video boxes do not get a bar. Only the real website results do.
Colours give you a quick read. Green means the site looks easy to compete with. Amber means medium. Red means a strong site that is hard to beat.
DR, DA and PA: how strong is the site?
DR (Domain Rating) is a score from 0 to 100 for the strength of the whole website, based on the links pointing to it. Under 40 is shown green, 40 to 69 amber, 70 and above red.
DA (Domain Authority) is another 0 to 100 strength score for the whole website, from a different data source. Looking at both gives you a fairer picture.
PA (Page Authority) is the same idea, but for this one page instead of the whole site. A strong site can still have a weak page, and that page is easier to beat.
Tip for beginners: if you see a few results with DR or DA under 20, the keyword is usually open to new websites with good content.
SS, RD and BL: links and spam
SS (Spam Score) is the estimated chance, in percent, that the site looks spammy to search engines. Under 4 is fine, 4 to 7 is worth a look, 8 or more is a warning sign.
RD (Referring Domains) is the number of different websites that link to this site. This is one of the most important numbers in SEO. Ten links from ten sites are worth far more than ten links from one site.
BL (Backlinks) is the total number of links pointing to the site, counting every link from every page.
Traffic, Age and Rank
Traffic is the estimated number of visits the site gets each month. Here more is shown in green, because it means the site is popular, not because it is easy to beat.
Age is how long the domain has been registered, shown in years and months. Older domains are usually harder to outrank, so 3 years or more is shown red and under 1 year green.
Rank is the estimated world rank of the website by visits. A smaller number means a bigger website. "1M+" means it is outside the top one million.
DMCA
DMCA shows "Clean" when Google has not removed anything from this results page because of a copyright complaint.
It shows "Yes" when Google notes at the bottom of the page that some results were removed. The notice covers the whole page, not only one site.
The lines under the bar
Under the main bar you may see a facts line: who the domain is registered with, when it expires, since when the public web archive has been saving copies of it, whether the page has an H1 heading and whether it has structured data (schema).
You may also see a "Top keywords" line. These are searches the site already ranks for, with its position for each one. Click a keyword to search it on Google.
A small "Weak site" tag with a star marks results whose DR is at or under your weak limit. These are the sites you have the best chance to beat. You can change the limit in the sidebar.
Quick Check buttons
On Google, each result also gets a "Quick Check" line with two buttons: one for traffic (TR) and one for backlinks (BL).
A click opens a free traffic or backlink checker from a third-party SEO website in a new tab, fills in the address of that result and presses its check button for you. That website may ask you to solve a captcha first. Nothing happens until you click.
If you do not use them, turn off "Quick Check buttons" in the popup Settings tab.
What "…" and a dash mean
"…" means the number is still loading. Many sites are looked up live the first time anyone searches for them. The bar fills in by itself, usually within 10 to 40 seconds.
A dash in place of a number means there is no data for that number right now. This is normal for very new or very small websites.
