Local SEO on Google Maps and the local pack
Chapter 7 of 11Business rows on Google Maps and in the local pack show categories, website strength, claim status and handy IDs.
Where the business rows appear
Search Google Maps for something local, for example "coffee shops in new york". Each business in the list gets an SBMM row under its name.
The same row appears when you open a business, in the Places box (local pack) on normal Google results, and in the "More places" list.
What each row shows
Categories: the primary category comes first with a star, then the other categories. Click "+N" to see all of them. Copying the categories of the top businesses is one of the easiest local SEO wins.
Website strength: a bar with DR, DA, PA, spam score, referring domains, backlinks and traffic for the business website, the same as on normal results.
Website link: the globe link opens the business website.
Unclaimed: shown when nobody has claimed the Business Profile yet.
Copy buttons: Place ID, CID and a direct review link. These are useful for citations, schema and asking customers for reviews.
Audit: opens the full Business Profile Audit for that business. The next chapter explains it.
Tips
Business details are read from Google Maps by your own browser, one business at a time, and saved in your browser for a few days so they load instantly next time.
If you scroll a long list quickly, rows fill in a few at a time. That is on purpose, so Google does not slow you down.
