Redirects, Detector, Performance and link tools
Chapter 14 of 25Popup tabs that look beyond the page text: redirects, what the site is built with, loading speed, internal link ideas and a map of internal links.
Redirects
"This page" says whether the page you opened arrived through a redirect or a meta refresh.
"Domain versions" follows the http, https, www and non-www versions of the domain and shows every hop with its status code. All versions should end on one address, in as few hops as possible. A 301 is permanent, a 302 is temporary.
"Check any address" follows any address you paste, such as an old domain or a short link, up to 10 hops. These checks run on the SBMM server. Export CSV saves the results.
Detector
Detector shows what a site is built with: the CMS, site builder, online store, page builder, frameworks, analytics, tag managers, advertising, live chat, payments, fonts, CDN, hosting and more, grouped by type. A version number appears when the page shows one.
The line on top says which name the top bar shows in its CMS cell. "likely" next to a name means only a weak sign was found.
If nothing is found, the site may be custom built, or the page may have just opened. Reload it and run the audit again.
Performance
These speed numbers come from your own visit to the page, so they change with your connection and computer. LCP, FCP, TTFB and CLS are the common speed and stability measures. DCL and Load show when the page finished loading. Green is good and red is slow.
Below them you see the protocol, redirects and page size, then requests by type, the largest and slowest files, and images served larger than needed.
Reload the page before you open this tab for fresh numbers. The PageSpeed Insights and WebPageTest buttons open those free tests for this page, for a lab result to compare.
Link Finder
Link Finder finds places where this page could link to your other pages.
It loads the site's pages from robots.txt or the sitemap. You can also paste a sitemap address and click Import. Then it shows words already in your text that match another page, with the page it could link to.
Copy link gives you ready link HTML, and Export CSV saves the list. Only use a suggestion when the meaning fits, not just the words.
Internal Link Graph
Each dot is a page and each line is an internal link. Bigger dots have more links pointing to them. Red dots are orphan pages that no crawled page links to, and orange dots have only one. Drag to move, scroll to zoom and click a dot to open that page.
The lists below name the orphan and low-linked pages. These are the pages to link to first. Export pages and Export links save the data.
- 1Open the tab on the site you want to map. The pages load from the sitemap, or paste a sitemap address and click Import.
- 2Set how many pages to crawl, up to 300, and click "Crawl this site".
- 3You can close the popup while it runs. The map is there when you come back.
Tools tab
Page tools holds the same tools as the top bar: Colour Picker, Snipping Area, Full Page SS, KWs Ideas, Bulk URLs and Clean Text. They work even when the top bar is off. The popup closes for the tools you use on the page itself.
On this page has shortcuts: highlight nofollow links, HTML vs DOM, the full audit report, copy the URL, and open robots.txt or the sitemap.
