AEO and GEO scores

Chapter 12 of 25

Two scores for how ready a page is to be used by answer engines and generative search, with the evidence behind each one and a list of fixes.

AEO score

AEO (answer engine optimization) shows how ready the page is to be used as a direct answer. It looks at clear answers, good structure and whether the page is easy to reach and read.

Open the AEO / GEO tab, or click the AEO meter on Overview. The word next to the meters sums up the result. You also see the combined score, the coverage and how many checks passed, have issues, are for information or could not be evaluated.

The scores describe what the page shows. They do not measure how often a page is really cited. Only a verified search account could show that, and none is linked, so nothing is estimated here.

AEO and GEO side by side, with the top fixes below.

Page type

A product page and a news article need different things, so SBMM works out the page type first and says what it based that on.

If it guessed wrong, pick the right type under Change. The same page facts are scored again straight away.

Top priority improvements

This list shows the fixes that gain the most points first, each with a level from Critical to Low. Click one to jump to its evidence.

GEO score

GEO (generative engine optimization) shows how ready the page is to be cited by generative search. It looks at clear entities, structured data, trust, sources and original content.

Category comparison breaks both scores into five parts: answers, structure and coverage, entities, trust and evidence, and technical access. Each part is out of 20. Click one to see only its checks.

Findings lists the checks, with filters for Issues, All, Passed, Informational and Not Evaluated. Open a check to read what was observed, the exact text, why it matters and how to improve it.

Query coverage

Type the topic the page should cover under "Primary topic" and click "Check topic". SBMM suggests the kinds of questions people ask about that topic and marks each one Covered, Partial or Missing, with the section that answers it.

These are generated suggestions from fixed rules and the words on your page, not real search data, and they do not change the score. Use the Missing rows as ideas for new sections.

Query coverage for the topic "search engine optimization".

Evidence

Open any Evidence block to see what was read from the page.

Questions and answers lists questions on the page and how directly each one is answered. Entity graph draws the people, brands and things in your page data and how they link. Claims and sources lists statements and whether a source sits nearby. It does not check if they are true.

Freshness compares the dates on the page and in the page data. Images, video and audio checks that media is explained in text. Originality signals looks for first-hand details. Server HTML and rendered page compares the two versions.

Evidence: the entity graph, with more blocks below it.

Crawler access

This block reads the robots.txt file and shows, for each search and assistant crawler, whether it is allowed, blocked or not named, with the rule it read.

It only reads robots.txt. A server or firewall can still block a crawler, and that cannot be seen from here.

Crawler access, read from robots.txt.

Save or share the result

"Copy report" copies a text version. "Export JSON" saves the data. "Printable report" opens a clean page you can print or save as PDF. "Re-analyze page" reads the page again.

Audit history at the bottom keeps the last 10 checks for each site in your browser, so you can see if your changes moved the score.
