Etsy fees explained
Etsy charges 0.20 USD to publish a listing, 6.5% of the item price plus shipping and gift wrap when it sells, and a payment processing fee that depends on your country. Offsite Ads add 15% or 12% only on orders that came from those ads, and some countries pay extra fees.
What fees does Etsy charge?
Four fees cover most sales. The first is charged when you list. The others are charged when an item sells.
| Fee | Amount | Charged on |
|---|---|---|
| Listing fee | 0.20 USD | Each listing, whether or not it sells. A listing lasts 4 months. |
| Transaction fee | 6.5% | The item price, plus shipping and gift wrap if you charge for them. |
| Payment processing | Set by country. United States: 3% + 0.25 USD | The total sale price, including shipping and any sales tax. |
| Offsite Ads fee | 15% or 12%, never more than 100 USD an order | Only orders that came from an Offsite Ad. |
A worked example
A seller with a United States bank account sells a 25 USD item with 5 USD shipping. No sales tax is charged on the order and it did not come from an Offsite Ad.
- 1Listing fee: 0.20 USD.
- 2Transaction fee: 6.5% of 30 USD is 1.95 USD.
- 3Payment processing: 3% of 30 USD is 0.90 USD, plus 0.25 USD, so 1.15 USD.
- 4Total Etsy fees on this sale: 3.30 USD.
How do Offsite Ads fees work?
Etsy advertises listings on other websites. If a buyer clicks one of those ads and buys from your shop within 30 days, the order counts as an Offsite Ads sale and carries the extra fee.
The rate depends on your shop. Shops under 10,000 USD in a consecutive 365 day period pay 15%. Shops at or above that amount pay 12%. Either way, the fee never goes over 100 USD for one order.
If your shop has never reached 10,000 USD in any consecutive 365 days, you can opt out in Shop Manager. Once it reaches that amount, taking part is required for the life of the shop.
Which fees depend on where you sell from?
- Set-up fee: a one-time, non-refundable fee when you open a shop. The amount varies by location.
- Regulatory operating fee: a percentage of the order total for sellers in the UK, France, Italy, India, Spain, Türkiye, Vietnam and Canada.
- VAT: can apply to Etsy's processing fees and seller services, and the amount varies.
- Currency conversion: 2.5% when Etsy converts your funds to your payment account currency.
- Deposit fees: these apply only in certain countries.
When do you pay the listing fee again?
- When a listing expires after 4 months and auto-renews, you pay 0.20 USD and the 4 months start again.
- When a buyer takes more than one of an item in a single order, you pay 0.20 USD for each extra one sold.
- A private listing costs 0.20 USD, charged only if the buyer you made it for buys it.
- Editing a listing costs nothing.
Where do you see what you really paid?
Your Payment account shows the fees charged on each order. Etsy can change its fees, so treat its help pages and your own account as the final word.
Fees here were read from Etsy's help pages on 31 October 2026. Etsy Ads and shipping labels are charged separately, and their cost depends on what you use.
