Keyword line and Keyword Ideas
Chapter 5 of 11See what a keyword is worth right under the search box, then collect hundreds of related keyword ideas.
The keyword line under the search box
Every Google search shows a thin line under the search box, starting with the SBMM label.
Volume is the average number of searches per month. CPC is the average price advertisers pay per click, a good sign of how valuable the keyword is. Competition is Low, Medium, High or Very Hard, based on the strength of the sites in the top 10.
Trend shows the last 12 months as small bars and says Up, Down or Stable. SBMM KD is the keyword difficulty score from the previous chapter.
Some long or very new keywords have no volume data yet. In that case the line says "no keyword data", but the difficulty score still works.
Open Keyword Ideas
Keyword Ideas collects real search suggestions for one seed keyword and sorts them for you. Open it from "KWs Ideas" in the top bar on any website.
Everything you collect is saved only in your own browser. Nothing is uploaded to SBMM.
Collect keywords step by step
Each keyword gets an intent (informational, commercial, transactional or navigational) and a topic group, so you can plan one page per group.
Open "More options" to add your own prefixes and suffixes, change how many discovery rounds run, or set a query limit and delay. The defaults are fine for most people.
- 1Click "New project". Give it a name and pick the country and language you are targeting.
- 2Type one seed keyword, for example "youtube channel", and click "Start collecting".
- 3Watch the counters: queries done, keywords found and rounds. You can pause and resume at any time, even after closing the browser.
- 4When it finishes, filter by length (for example 5+ words for long-tail), sort, and select the ones you like.
- 5Click Copy, Export CSV or JSON to take them with you.
