Install and pin the extension

Chapter 1 of 11

Add the extension to Chrome, pin the icon and check that it is working. Takes about two minutes.

What you need

A desktop computer with Google Chrome (version 111 or newer), Microsoft Edge or another Chromium browser that installs from the Chrome Web Store.

You do not need an account. The extension is free and starts working as soon as it is installed.

It does not work in mobile browsers, because mobile Chrome does not support extensions.

Install from the Chrome Web Store

Chrome tells you the extension can "read and change data on all websites". This is needed for the top bar and the page tools to work on any site you open. The Privacy policy explains each permission in plain words.

  1. 1Open the Download page on this site and click "Add to Chrome". It takes you to the extension in the Chrome Web Store.
  2. 2Click "Add to Chrome", then "Add extension" in the box that pops up.
  3. 3A welcome page on this website opens in a new tab. It shows where each tool lives. You can close it whenever you like.

Pin the icon

Pinning is optional, but you will use the icon a lot. One click on it opens the page audit for whatever website you are on.

  1. 1Click the puzzle piece icon at the top right of Chrome, next to the address bar.
  2. 2Find "SBMM - SERP/SEO/AEO/GEO Signals & Tools" in the list.
  3. 3Click the pin next to it. The SBMM icon now stays next to your address bar.

Check that it works

If some numbers show "…" at first, wait a few seconds. New sites are looked up live and fill in by themselves.

  1. 1Open Google and search for anything, for example "how to start a youtube channel".
  2. 2Under each result you should see a small SBMM bar with numbers like DR and DA.
  3. 3On the right side of the results you should see the SBMM sidebar.
  4. 4At the very top of the page you should see the slim SBMM top bar.
A normal Google search with the extension installed: result bars, keyword line, sidebar and top bar.
