How to use this calendar
Seasonal shoppers start looking weeks before a holiday, and a new Etsy listing needs time to collect views and favorites before search shows it well. That is why each event has a start listing by date, about six to eight weeks before the day. For Christmas and Halloween, earlier is better: many sellers have gift listings live by September.
- 8 weeks out
- Research keywords for the event, plan new listings and order materials. Check demand and competition for each idea in the Etsy keyword tool.
- 6 to 8 weeks out
- Publish the listings with the event in the title and tags, seasonal photos and clear processing times.
- 2 to 4 weeks out
- Plan a sale or coupon and check the price after the discount with the fee and profit calculator. Add your last order date to the shop announcement.
- After the day
- Mark down leftover seasonal stock and note what sold, so next year's listings go live even earlier.
Dates that move every year
Many shopping events are tied to a weekday or the moon, so they fall on a different date each year. Thanksgiving is the fourth Thursday of November, with Black Friday, Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday right after it. Mother's Day in the US, Canada and Australia is the second Sunday of May, while the UK celebrates Mothering Sunday three weeks before Easter. Father's Day is the third Sunday of June, except in Australia, where it is the first Sunday of September. Lunar New Year, Diwali, Easter and Hanukkah follow lunar or lunisolar calendars.
